From Blueprints to Bookshelves: Inspiring the Next Generation of Contractors with a Children’s Book
IES Nebraska celebrates Women in Construction Week!
A children’s book is inspiring the next generation of contractors, and IES Nebraska is making sure the message reaches those future tradeswomen. See how we’re celebrating Women in Construction Week!
To celebrate Women in Construction Week, IES Nebraska honored our hard working members by sharing a special children’s book that highlights the impact of women in the trades. Inspired by real events, The House That She Built tells the story of a remarkable team of women—from all across the country—who banded together to construct a one-of-a-kind house. Long after it completed and sold, The House That She Built continues to showcase the inspiring change in an industry where women make up just 3% of the onsite workforce.
To further demonstrate our commitment, IES Nebraska directly engaged young minds by donating extra copies of the book to the Holdrege Public Library and Holdrege Elementary School. By transforming the groundbreaking project into a children’s book, fyoung girls are shown that a successful and fulfilling career in construction is possible for everyone. From blueprints to bookshelves, we’re proud to support our youth and their education, inspiring those who may one day follow in the footsteps of those who power IES progress!
